New Zealand A tour of the UAE, 2018
Pakistan A vs New Zealand A, 1st Unofficial T20 | PK-A vs NZ-A WHO WILL WIN
The Big Picture
New Zealand A will kickstart their month-long sojourn of the UAE on Friday, October 12, when they lock horns with Pakistan A in the first unofficial T20 at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Friday.
The 3-match unofficial T20 series will be succeeded by a 3-match ODI series and a 2-match Test series at Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Pakistan has named a 13-member squad for the T20 series which will be spearheaded by Umar Amin. Amin, who was a member of the 2008 U-19 World Cup squad was earmarked as the next big thing in Pakistan cricket. But after 4 Tests (average of 12.38) and 16 ODIs, the last of which came against New Zealand earlier this year, things have not materialised thus far and the series gives Amin an opportunity to stake his claim back into the national side on the back of consistent performances in this series.
Besides Amin, the squad consists of players like Sahibzada Farhan, Hussain Talat, who made his debut for Pakistan in the T20 format of the game this year and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who impressed with his raw pace in the recently concluded Asia Cup.
New Zealand A, meanwhile, have named a 15-man squad for the series with a side boasting of an amalgamation of International stars like Mark Chapman, Lockie Ferguson, Corey Anderson and newbies like Indian-origin left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel, who has been named in New Zealand’s’ side for their tour of the UAE as a replacement for Mitchell Santner.
The series provides players from both the sides an opportunity to impress selectors before their senior sides’ lock horns next month.
