Match: Rajasthan vs Gujarat, Indian T20 League
Date: 14th April, 2022
Time: 07:30 PM IST
Venue: Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai
The most consistent teams of this year’s T20 League are all set for the battle. Rajasthan vs Gujarat will battle for supremacy at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy on 14th April. Rajasthan has shown a lot of promise in the last few matches, and is sitting comfortably at the top of the points table. The team has played four matches and lost just one match this season.
Meanwhile, Gujarat surprised everyone and went undefeated in their first three matches of its debut season. However, the team lost its momentum in the last match when they were defeated by Hyderabad. Nonetheless, the young side of Gujarat has a lot of potential in their batting and bowling units. The perfect blend of the young guns and calm veterans have helped the team in a big way.
The players of Rajasthan have been on a roll since the start of this season. Rajasthan’s opener Jos Buttler is currently having the Orange Cap on his head with 218 runs in four innings. Additionally, Butler is the only batter who has struck a century this year. The rest of the batting unit consistently perform on the pitch, which has been a good sign for the team. Skipper Sanju Samson has also played a key role in maintaining the top order. However, the fans are pretty impressed with Sheldon Hetmyer this season. Recently, Hetmyer has knocked every bad ball out of the park, much to the aid of Rajasthan.
Notably, the Purple Cap holder is also in Rajasthan. Yazuvendra Chahal has picked 11 wickets with an average of just 9.45 runs. Apart from Chahal, veteran Ashwin has handled the spin department pretty well this season.
Up until now, it has been a dream run for the new team Gujarat. Hardik Pandya’s team went undefeated in their first three matches, and dominated their opponents. Captain Pandya led from the front in previous matches where he consistently performed with the bat and the bowl. In the last match, he played a well-needed half-century for the team. Shubman Gill has been a highlight for the team. Gill has scored 187 runs for his team so far. It is expected that the young batter will don the Orange Cap as the tournament progresses.
The DY Patil Sports Academy has been one of the biggest wickets to bat on in India. This season, the toss-winning captain has elected to bowl first in spite of the dew factor. However, the team batting second has scored big runs because of the assistance offered from the wicket.
