Bangladesh’s domestic T20 League – Dhaka Premier League 2019 which began on February 25 has reached its business end. A total of 12 sides put into four different groups started their campaign and now group champions are set to lock horns in the semi-finals to secure a spot in the final.

The first semi-final of the tournament will be played between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club in Dhaka tomorrow noon. The clash is set to begin at 01:30 PM IST. Both the sides are unbeaten in the two encounters played so far. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club is the table toppers from Group B after thrashing Uttara Sporting Club and Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity while Shinepukur Cricket Club grabbed the top spot in Group C after clinching victories over Mohammedan Sporting Club and Legends of Rupganj.

The journey so far

Shinepukur Cricket Club started their DPL 2019 campaign with 5 wickets win over Legends of Rupganj in the tournament opener. After restricting Rupganj for mere 115/5 in the 13 overs game, Shinepukur chased down the target with 5 wickets in hand and 3 balls to spare. Shabbir Rahman (32 of 25) and skipper S Hom (32 of 10) were instrumental in the run chase. In their second encounter, Shinepukur thrashed Mohammedan Sporting club by 22 runs after successfully defending 192 runs on the board.   

On the other side, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club secured 11 runs win in their opening fixture against Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity to start their campaign and clinched 4 runs win over Uttara Sporting Club under the DLS method to secure their second win of the tournament and grab the top spot in Group B.

Meanwhile, group A table topper Prime Bank Cricket Club will be locking horns with Group D top spot holder Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan in the second semi-final scheduled to be held tomorrow evening. The final of the tournament will be a day-night encounter that will be played at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on March 03, Sunday.
