After a closely contested Test series, New Zealand and Sri Lanka will now face off in a three-match ODI series. The series will be part of the ODI World Cup Super League, which will determine which teams qualify directly for the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
New Zealand is coming into the series as favorites, having won their last three ODI series against Sri Lanka. However, they will be without their skipper Kane Williamson, who has been rested along with several senior players.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka will be looking to take advantage of New Zealand’s depleted squad and secure a decisive victory. They are currently ranked tenth in the ODI World Cup Super League points table with 77 points and will look to gain maximum points to secure direct qualification for the 2023 ODI World Cup set to take place this year in India.
