Team 1 & 2: As per the conditions
The subcontinent pitches assist spinners more than pace bowlers and as the game progresses to day 4 & 5 it becomes even more difficult to bat on these pitches. So, we will be picking spinners as captain and vice-captains here –
Wicketkeeper: K Perera
Batsmen: A Mathews, K Mendis, K Williamson, R Taylor
All-rounder: D D Silva, M Santner
Bowlers: A Dhananjaya, T Boult, A Patel, W Somerville
Captain & vice captain – M Santner/A Dhananjaya
Captain & vice captain -A Patel & D D Silva
Team 3 & 4: X-Factors
K Williamson, Ross Taylor and A Mathews are the most experienced in their side and are also good players of spin bowling. Williamson averages around 80 against Sri Lanka whilst A Mathews has 55+ average against Kiwis.
Batsmen: A Mathews, D Chandimal, K Williamson, R Taylor
Captain & vice captain – K Williamson & R Taylor
Captain & vice captain – K Williamson & A Mathews
Team 5 & 6: Unorthodox combinations
Tom Blundell made a hundred on his test debut while William Somerville and Ajaz Patel were instrumental in the historic 2-1 series win against Pakistan in UAE. So, here we will be betting on something similar –
Batsmen: D Chandimal, Kusal Mendis, H Nicholls, R Taylor
Bowlers: A Dhananjaya, T Boult, A Patel, S Lakmal
Captain & vice captain – H Nicholls & D Chandimal
Captain & vice captain – K Mendis & T Boult
