The biggest surprise was the inclusion of Rinku Singh in the Uttar Pradesh squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 21-year-old was handed a three months suspension for featuring in an unauthorized tournament in Abu Dhabi.

The Kolkata Knight Riders batsman has been a consistent performer in the domestic tournaments, and will only make the team a tad more strong.

Since Suresh Raina’s couldn’t guarantee his participation in the tournament, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) handed the team’s captaincy to Samarth Singh.
