The previous games of both teams were abandoned due to rain. Punjab faced Himachal in their opening game where their batting couldn’t do much as they flattered for 169 in 42 overs. Rain made its appearance in the 8th over of the second innings and the match couldn’t continue from thereon.

Vidarbha was supposed to face Delhi but their match couldn’t even start persistent rains kept the toss away. Therefore, this match could be termed as the opening fixture for both teams.
