Match: Gujarat vs Bangalore, Indian T20 League
Date: 30th April, 2022
Time: 03:30 PM IST
Venue: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai
Two teams with the most versatile players are all set to lock horns in the 43rd match of the Indian T20 League 2022. Gujarat and Bangalore have been fan-favourites this season so far. However, the Gujarat team has absolutely mesmerised the crowd. Gujarat is at the top of the points table and Bangalore is fighting for the number 4 position on the points table.
Gujarat pulled off a major heist in their last match against Hyderabad. The team miraculously hit 25 runs in the last over to win the match. Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia emerged as the power-hitters who ushered the team to victory. Wicket keeper-batter Wridhiman Saha finally found his rhythm in the last match and scored a much-needed half-century. Although the Gujarat batters were troubled by the fearsome pace of Umran Malik, the batting unit powered through. Rashid Khan hit 31 runs off just 11 balls, whereas, Rahul Tewatia hit 40 runs in the match.
The bowling unit for Gujarat has been fantastic throughout the match. However, in the last match, Lockie Ferguson took a beating from Hyderabad’s batting unit. Moreover, Ferguson went for 25 runs in his last over. Other than that, the expertise of Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan has helped the team immensely and it is expected that they will keep on delivering the same for the remainder of the tournament.
The Bangalore side has had on-and-off matches so far in the season. Earlier in the tournament, there were matches where Bangalore looked unstoppable with the batting performances of Faf du Plessis, Suyash Prabhudessai and Dinesh Karthik. However, in the last few matches, the team has done little with the bat and the bowl. Virat Kohli’s terrible form has been a matter of concern for the fans and the team itself. However, the rest of the batting lineup is not up to the mark as well.
The bowling unit of Bangalore has become a better unit since the arrival of Josh Hazlewood. Mohammed Siraj’s on and off performances in the tournament has left Bangalore clueless in the death overs. However, the team is still in the top four and is a strong contender for the Indian T20 League title.
The pitch at the Brabourne Stadium generally gives assistance to both bowlers and batsmen with the dew factor coming to play deep in the match. The short boundaries and a quick outfield should delight the batsmen of course.
