Deepak Hooda is an Indian professional cricketer. In the domestic circuit, he plays for Baroda and the Punjab Kings in the IPL. Although he started out as a wicketkeeper-batsman, he is now a batting allrounder who bowls off-spin. A powerful striker of the cricket ball, he always scores at a brisk pace. He can reign in his natural intent and play the longer form of cricket as well. Hooda scored a century on debut for Baroda and averages over 50 in List A cricket.
Rajasthan Royals recruited him for IPL 2015 after an impressive performance in the 2014 U19 World Cup. Despite the fact that he only played 14 matches in the IPL 2015, he scored 151 runs with a strike rate of over 160. In 2015, he made the quickest half-century for Rajasthan Royals (22 balls). Sunrisers Hyderabad recruited him ahead of the IPL 2016, owing to his impressive performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
He has failed to live up to expectations so far. He has yet to reach 1000 runs in the IPL after playing 80 games and averaging 16.7. Kings XI Punjab purchased him in the 2020 IPL auction. He has fared slightly better with Punjab. Hooda would be unhappy not to be on the periphery of the senior side, despite a superb record in both first-class and List-A cricket.
Hooda bats in the lower middle order and is usually required to fire from the get-go. He has a very impressive career strike rate of 130. He is particularly severe against spin bowling. Hooda is built strongly and clears boundaries with ease. He is nicknamed the “Hurricane” for his game-changing abilities. So far, he has three half-centuries to his name.
Deepak Hooda IPL 2021 price is INR 50 lakhs. Punjab Kings recruited him for the same price in 2020. Rajasthan Royals had picked him for his debut for INR 40 lakhs. After an impressive 2015, Sunrisers Hyderabad broke the bank and purchased him for INR 4.2 crores. It was a whopping 42 times the value of his base price.
Here are some of the records by Deepak Hooda:
Deepak Hooda made his debut in the 2015 season of IPL. Rajasthan Royals recruited him in February 2014, but he did not get a game that season.
