Mumbai Indians finally returned to winning ways with an authoritative win over Punjab Kings by 6 wickets. MI bowlers first restricted Punjab to a below par 135/6. Their top order wobbled once again but their middle order came to the rescue with Pollard and Hardik Pandya sealing the win for them. Earlier in the day, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated an in-form Delhi Capitals by 3 wickets. Chasing 128 on a sluggish Sharjah pitch, KKR chased down the target in the penultimate over of the match with Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine providing the final flourish.
Kolkata Knight Riders have given themselves a great chance of qualifying to the playoffs with a win over Delhi Capitals. Their positive net run rate is likely to play a big role moving ahead. Mumbai’s win over Punjab Kings was their first win of this phase. There were many positives for them with their middle order clicking together. They face a stiff competition from Knight Riders in the point table as the latter has a positive net run rate.

Shikhar Dhawan has moved to the top of the Orange cap list once again surpassing Sanju Samson. KL Rahul remains at third position. CSK’s openers Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad are 4th and 5th in the list respectively. There is a close competition between the top 5 players and it is likely to get intense later on in the competition. Rohit Sharma is 6th on this list and is the highest run scorer for Mumbai Indians this season currently.
Harshal Patel comfortably holds the Purple cap with 23 wickets to his name. DC’s fast bowler Avesh Khan produced his best IPL figures on Tuesday and has moved closer to the No. 1 spot. Jasprit Bumrah’s 2-24 against PBKS has taken him over Chris Morris in the list. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh has been replaced by his teammate Mohammed Shami for the 5th spot in the list. Arshdeep is currently 6th on the list and given his form, he can be back in the top 5 soon.
