Finn Allen IPL: Finn Allen is a promising wicket-keeper batter from New Zealand, who has made a name for himself in the shortest format of the game. Allen was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for INR 80 lakhs at the IPL 2020 Mega Auction. Although he is yet to make his IPL debut, Allen has been making waves in the domestic and international T20 circuit. Finn Allen Career
Finn Allen made his domestic debut for Wellington in the 2017-18 season. He had a decent outing in his debut season, scoring 338 runs at an average of 26. His performances caught the attention of the national selectors, and he was included in the New Zealand A squad for their tour of India in 2018. In 2019, Allen was a part of the New Zealand U-19 team that played in the ICC U-19 World Cup. He finished as the team’s leading run-scorer with 338 runs in six matches, including three half-centuries.

Allen’s breakthrough season came in 2019-20, where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the Super Smash T20 tournament. He scored 512 runs in 11 matches at an impressive strike rate of 193.93. His performances earned him a call-up to the New Zealand T20I squad for their tour of Bangladesh in 2021.

Finn Allen was named as a replacement for Josh Philippe in the RCB squad for IPL 2021. Although he did not get to play a single match, the experience of being a part of an IPL squad would have surely helped him gain insights into the workings of the league.
The 2022 IPL auction saw Finn Allen being retained by RCB for his base price of INR 20 lakhs. With the likes of AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, and Virat Kohli in the RCB squad, Allen will have to fight hard for a place in the playing XI. However, his impressive T20 numbers and his ability to keep wickets might work in his favor.

Finn Allen has played 85 T20 matches so far, scoring 2,319 runs at an average of 28.28 and a strike rate of 171.65. He has scored one century and 16 half-centuries in T20s. Allen’s highest T20 score is 101, which he scored for New Zealand against Bangladesh in March 2021. In List A cricket, Allen has scored 1,321 runs in 46 matches at an average of 29.35 and a strike rate of 105.67. He has one century and eight half-centuries in List A cricket.

In the 28 T20Is that Allen has played for New Zealand, he has scored 616 runs at an average of 22.00 and a strike rate of 160.41. He has one century and two half-centuries in T20Is. Allen’s highest T20I score is 71, which he scored against Bangladesh in September 2021.
