In 2016, the two friends and teammates of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) scored 229 runs for the second wicket in their match against Gujarat Lions. This partnership, which took just 96 balls, not only set a new record for the highest partnership in IPL history, but also broke the record for the highest partnership for a wicket in T20 cricket overall. Kohli finished with 109 runs off 55 balls, while de Villiers scored an unbeaten 129 runs off 52 balls.

2. VIRAT KOHLI & AB DE VILLIERS (RCB)- 215 RUNS FOR THE 2nd WICKET VS MUMBAI INDIANS IN 2015

5. CHRIS GAYLE & VIRAT KOHLI (RCB)- 204 RUNS FOR THE 2nd WICKET VS RCB IN 2011 VS DELHI DAREDEVILS IN 2012

Making it to the fifth spot of the best partnership in IPL history is yet again Virat Kohli but this time with Chris Gayle. The duo scored 204 runs for the 2nd wicket against Delhi Daredevils. Gayle scored an explosive 128* off 62 balls while Kohli scored 73 off 53 balls. Thank you to this partnership, RCB scored 215/1 in their 20 overs to win the match in commanding fashion.
