Match: Lucknow vs Mumbai,  Indian T20 League

Date: 24th April, 2022

Time: 07:30 PM IST

Venue: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

In a little more than a week, Lucknow will face Mumbai. The first meeting between these two sides resulted in a Lucknow victory by 18 runs. Lucknow has fared far better in the Indian T20 League. After all, Lucknow is in fourth place in the rankings with four victories from seven games, but Mumabi has lost all seven games so far.

In the history of the league, no team has ever lost its opening eight games, therefore Mumbai might set new records with each loss from now on. Since Mumbai is making some weird player decisions that we can’t understand, team selection has been one of the most troublesome things for us to contemplate.

Team Preview

Lucknow

Lucknow had previously lost to Bangalore in a game in which the squad committed critical tactical blunders. Lucknow’s decision to keep Stoinis waiting till the 15th over is one of the most egregious. That is a horrible use of a talent who has so much more potential.

Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul are also under a lot of pressure to make runs in every match. So far in IPL 2022, these are the only two players who have scored more than 200 runs for Lucknow. Lucknow’s batting would be in serious peril if these two batsmen go early.

One factor to consider is KL Rahul’s previous record versus Mumbai. In 15 encounters versus them, he has scored 764 runs at an average of 76.4! He obviously enjoys competing against them. You might place a wager on his Over/Under total for this match.

The Mumbai middle order, which includes Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, and Ayush Badoni, is responsible for the majority of Lucknow’s bowling. Stoinis and Holder are frequently left with insufficient deliveries to have an effect, thus this is a Mumbaistake.

In our perspective, Lucknow’s bowling assault is also a tad lacklustre. Ravi Bishnoi usually bowls tight and keeps them in check, but he went for runs in the last match, and the entire team suffered. Dushmantha Chameera will bowl first, with Jason Holder appearing to be the chosen death bowler. When you add Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, and Avesh Khan to the mix, you have some nice alternatives, but not quite as good as some of the other teams.

Lucknow is a well-balanced squad with a few standout players. However, it is far from unbeatable.

Mumbai

When Mumbai had CSK on the ropes, it must have assumed it had finally won its opening match of IPL 2022. Unfortunately, Jaydev Unadkat had a total breakdown in the last over, allowing 16 runs off the final four deliveries, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

Mumbai’s team selection continues to surprise. Their four international players were Rilee Meredith, Daniel Sams, Dewald Brevis, and Kieron Pollard. We would have liked to see Tim David in there, but it appears that he will not be getting any more chances this season.

That’s a pity, since David is now one of the most dangerous Mumbai middle-order hitters in the world.

In any case, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Kieron Pollard are the three major batsmen who are out of form. Dewald Brevis has also been beaten easily in the last few of games he’s played, and the proMumbaise that everyone is talking about now has to be translated into results.

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma appear to be the only hitters in excellent form at the moment. If you must bet on Mumbai’s batting, we recommend checking at the SKY and Tilak Varma betting markets.

Mumbai’s bowling has been abysmal this season, and it was evident that Rohit was attempting to correct that with his selection decisions. To some extent, it worked, as Daniel Sams, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith, and even Hrithik Shokeen all performed admirably.

However, Jaydev Unadkat was a disaster. Mumbai may make a few lineup changes once more as it strives to establish a winning mix.

Pitch Report & Conditions

The ground has provided some high-scoring thrillers in the past, and Mumbaight is certain to do so again in this encounter. The hitters are expected to control the whole encounter since the bowlers would have little to work with. The side that wins the coin toss will almost certainly maintain the tradition of bowling first.
