Mohammad Yousuf, a center of controversies with an unusual journey, managed to play with broken wood because he was unable to buy a cricket bat, but the destiny wants him to do big for the nation. So he made his place in Pakistan squad in 1998 in both ODI’s and Tests.

Yousuf was the third batsman who scored 600 runs in test cricket, after Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul-Haq.

In the year 2006, he broke the world record of Viv Richard’s after scoring 1788 runs at an average of 99.33 in the third inning against West Indies.
He also holds the record of hitting most centuries in a calendar year as he scored nine centuries in 2006.
Yousuf was the third player in ODI history who scored ODI hundred in his 100th ODI.
Moreover, he scored 24 Test centuries and 15 ODI centuries.

After his decision of converting into Islam, his mother was very much in shock to accept it. As per the Daily Times Newspaper: ” she said that I don’t want to give my name after what Yousuf has done. Also, she stated that she came to know about his decision when he was offered Friday prayer in a local mosque.
In the year 2007, he was trapped in a controversy in which he signed a contract to join the Indian Cricket League, which he has to refuse due to the pressure from the Pakistan Cricket Board as he would be ban by the board. And in return, PCB promised Yousuf to get him a place to play in IPL (Indian Premier League) but no team bid for him. Again in 2008, he decides to join ICL after that PCB dropped him out of their squad.
He won Test Player of the Year at ICC Awards in the year 2007.
Also, he was honored by Sitara-i-Imtiaz as a third highest honor bestowed by Pakistan.
