After taking an unassailable 0-2 lead in the 3-match ODI series, Bangladesh will look to complete a series whitewash when they take on Zimbabwe in the third ODI at Chittagong on Friday.

After capturing a 28-run win in the first game, Bangladesh continued their good run-of-form with another commanding performance in the second ODI by registering a seven-wicket win over Zimbabwe.

Mohammad Saifuddin was at the heart of Bangladesh’s win with the bowl. The fast bowler, who was playing due to an injury to Rubel Hussain bowled diligently to nip out three wickets for 45 to halt Zimbabwe’s charge, who at stage looked set for a total in excess of 270.

If Saifuddin was the spearhead with the bowl, it was Imrul Kayes (90) and Liton Das (83) who anchored the run-chase of 247.

Both Kayes (90) and Liton Das (83) continued their good run-of-form of the Asia Cup to post an imperious 148-run stand for the first wicket setting the platform for a seven-wicket win.

Beleaguered Zimbabwe desperate for a win

It has been seven months since Zimbabwe registered a win across formats. A winless tour to South Africa where they lost both the ODI series [0-3] and T20I series [1-2] has been followed by yet another defeat at the hands of Bangladesh.

Their batting has shown marked improvement after a lacklustre showing against the Proteas but the likes of Taylor, Sean Williams need to convert their starts into substantial totals to give their bowlers, who have performed rather well even in South Africa to work with.

The addition of Sikander Raza into the line-up has bolstered the team with the all-rounder in good form currently with both bat and ball.
