DC vs PBKS IPL today match prediction: DC made some grave mistakes before the game against RR where they decided to leave out an attacking batsman like Shimron Hetmyer for a bowler. Shimron Hetmyer would have been more than handy in that game as their top order failed and the so called stabilizer in Ajinkya Rahane at #3 looked completely out of sorts.
Rishabh Pant holding back an over of Ravichandran Ashwin and not bowling him out when 2 LHBs were at the crease and using Marcus Stoinis for an over when the match was in the control of DC was another inexplicable move and more than anything, they deserved to lose the game for believing Tom Curran is their death bowler.
+ Chris Woakes with the new ball was brilliant and his stocks are rising with good performances. He also showed that he is handy with the bat at #8.
+ Rishabh Pant was seen playing his natural game even when his team was under pressure which went missing in IPL 2020.
– They should pick the right playing XI to start with.
– Rishabh Pant is evolving as a captain but cant miss out on small things which are too obvious.
+ ShahRukh Khan has given enough confidence to be their mainstay at #6.
+ PBKS’s fast bowlers were very good in the second half of CSK’s batting innings. If they can stick to a plan from the beginning, they are easily one of the best fast bowling units in the competition
– Their batting looks disabled against high end pace barring KL Rahul.
– Murugan Ashwin has been far from impressive in the first two games.
DC playing 11 (Likely)
Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Sam Billings, Marcus Stoinis, Lalit Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Anrich Nortje/Chris Woakes, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan
PBKS playing 11 (Likely)
KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Shahrukh Khan, Jhye Richardson, Ravi Bishnoi, Riley Meredith, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh
Form guide (Last 5 games)
Records at Mumbai (T20 format)
DC- 4 wins and 7 defeats in 11 games
PBKS- 4 wins and 9 defeats in 13 games
After losing the game in a demoralizing manner, Punjab Kings are expected to make wholesale changes which is what they were doing through IPL 2020. Ideally, one loss shouldn’t make Punjab to press the panic button and they should continue with the same side that lost to CSK. The most likely change that one can anticipate is the addition of Moises Henriques for Riley Meredith as he is known as all rounder and gives the false security of adding balance to the side but this change will do no good to them in the longer run.
Delhi Capitals have a task at their hand in injecting an overseas batter and Anrich Nortje into the side and it will be interesting to see how Ricky Ponting reacts after a loss which is mainly due to batting collapse and poor on-field decisions.
