Pakistan Super League 2020 was going strong after returning to Pakistan in the current edition. However, the global pandemic coronavirus outbreak forced the PCB to postpone PSL 2020 at the knockout stage. Only 3 games were remaining in the competition when the PCB decided to put the competition on a halt. The 4 semi-finalists of the competition were already decided after the league stage. The PCB decided to shorten the tournament by one game by scrapping the playoffs format and replacing it by semifinal format. However, the PCB still could not complete the tournament, and they were forced to postpone the competition to conclude later.
The four teams which managed to reach the semifinals were Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, and Karachi Kings. The two semifinals to be played are as follows –
Multan Sultans vs Peshawar Zalmi
Multan Sultans have been the most consistent teams of the tournament of this edition. They went on to win 6 games and lost only 2 games out of the 10 to finish at the top of the table. The Sultans also built a 7-game undefeated streak during the league stage. They have one the most balanced side in the competition thanks to the world-class all-rounders present in their ranks. The presence of Moeen Ali, Shahid Afridi, and Ravi Bopara provides them the immense balance. They have batsmen like Rilee Rossouw and James Vince in their batting unit and bowlers like Mohammad Irfan and Imran Tahir to blow away the opposition.
Peshawar Zalmi, on the other hand, lost the track after an average start. They managed to sneak into the playoffs after losing their last 2 games courtesy the superior net run-rate. The Zalmis won only and lost 5 games out of their 10. The Peshawar-based outfit has a decent squad, including Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz, and Liam Livingstone. However, they could not click this season as a team.
Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars
Karachi Kings were the 2nd most consistent team in PSL 2020. The picked up the pace during the mid-season to finish 2nd with 5 wins and 4 losses in 10 games. The Kings have a balanced side with the presence of Imad Wasim, Sharjeel Khan, and Alex Hales in the batting department. They have a world-class all-rounder in Imad Wasim as their skipper. Moreover, they also have a strong bowling unit as they have Mohammad Amir and Chris Jordan.
Lahore Qalandars, on the other hand, had the worst possible start to the tournament by losing the first 3 games. But the Qalandars managed to bounce back in the latter stage of the tournament as they registered 5 wins in the remaining 7 games to finish 3rd in the points table. They have the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Chris Lynn, and Ben Dunk present in their batting. In the bowling department, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and David Wiese are present.

Multan Sultans defeated Peshawar Zalmi at both the occasions they met this season by 6 wickets and 3 runs, respectively. The Sultans from Multan are expected to win the semifinal between the 2 sides.
Lahore Qalandars defeated Karachi Kings by 8 wickets when they first met this season, but the Kings managed to avenge their loss by defeating the Qalandars by 10 wickets in the reverse fixture. However, if the Qalandars are going to have their full strength during the semifinal stage, they could topple the Kings from Karachi.
