AUS vs UAE Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:

Australia meet the host nation United Arab Emirates in the quarter-final of AFC Asian Cup match at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, City of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, on Thursday night (IST).

United Arab Emirates:
The hosts had a comparatively easy group to negotiate and didn’t need to break a sweat against the likes of India and Thailand to qualify from the group. They would have liked to finish at the top though, it was still a good performance from the team as they finished unbeaten at the first hurdle.

But the round-of-16 match tested team’ true character as Kyrgyzstan gave Saudis a run for their own money and nearly broke the heart of the host nation.

The 1996 beaten finalists led the game on two occasions after Khamis Esmaeel (14’) and Ali Mabkhout (64’) scored on either side of Mirlan Murzaev’s (26’) goal. With the game at 2-1 and clock ticking over the 90 minutes mark, Saudis suffered from a defensive relapse and allowed substitute Tursnali Rustamov a chance to level the score which he did and the match went into the extra-time.

Now it was a moment of madness from the opponent as the referee awarded a penalty to the hosts for a foul on Ahmed Khalil. The 27-year-old stepped up and sent the ball into the net from his right boot. It was as close shave for the hosts and they need to up their game if against the mighty Australians.

Australia:
Meanwhile, the defending champions Australia are still trying to find their top form in this tournament. This is the first time since 2007 that the Kangaroos look so off-color in the AFC Asian Cup.

The Australians have endured difficulty right from the start of the competition. They started the campaign with a surprise 1-0 loss against Jordan but were impressive in the easy dispatching of Palestine. The last group game, however, left the head-coach Graham Arnold with plenty of questions to be answered as the Socceroos just manage to cross the line against Syria.

There were not much improvements in the round-of-16 match as the Aussies toiled for 120 minutes and were forced to go through a penalty shootout.

But a sign of optimism for Australia could be that despite not hitting their strides, they have managed to come this far in the competition.

Now they face the host nation which won’t be an easy task. The Saudis are being managed by Alberto Zaccheroni, the same manager who guided Japan to title victory over Australia in 2011.

So the Socceroos have some score to settle against the Italian.
