BAY vs DOR Dream11 Prediction: Bayern Munich takes on Borussia Dortmund in another edition of ‘Der Klassiker’ for the DFL Super Cup as they eye more silverware in what has been an excellent 2020 for them. After winning the treble in the 2019/20 season and adding the UEFA Super Cup to their cabinet by beating Sevilla 2-1, Hansi Flick’s men will eye their 5th trophy in just a few months. Life was great for the Bavarians until they lost 4-1 to Hoffenheim last weekend which was a shock result that wasn’t expected by many. A defeat wouldn’t have affected Bayern but the crushing manner of the defeat might have caused some doubts and negativity to have crept in and the way they approach the game against Dortmund, will tell a lot about their mentality. Dortmund has been having problems of their own, losing to Augsburg 2-0 over the weekend. But Lucien Favre got the better of Niko Kovac’s Bayern when the two sides met for this exact same fixture last year, where Dortmund won 2-0, with goals coming from Jadon Sancho and Paco Alcacer. The Black and Yellow army will be hoping for a similar result this week as they stop their rivals from winning yet another piece of silverware.

Who will win today’s match?

Despite their surprising loss to Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich are pegged to win at 8/15 with Dortmund at just 5/1. This is fairly accurate because Bayern Munich will be up for the task and will do anything to avoid two consecutive losses. Dortmund, on the other hand, will be without key player – Jadon Sancho who is one of their most creative outlets. Giovani Reyna is a capable replacement but while facing one of the best clubs in the world, even the finest of margins can spell the difference between winning and losing and with that loss of cutting edge in their firepower, Dortmund has probably reduced their chances of winning. Dortmund can still grab the win and Lucien Favre will believe that his players are more than capable of doing so but their odds are slightly lower. Bayern Munich is the type of club that knows how to win and their mentality for such games is far superior. Factor in their better squad and it’s hard to see on paper how they would miss out on this laurel under ideal circumstances. Check out our BAY vs DOR Dream11 Match Prediction.

BAY vs DOR Dream11 Teams

Captain options

Robert Lewandowski – Robert Lewandowski was seemingly rested for this game as Hoffenheim beat Bayern 4-1, which means he will be well-rested and ready to go against his former club. The Polish forward has 18 goals and 2 assists against BVB alone and will look to improve that tally and add more trophies to his name. He had a stellar 2019/20 season and was the top-scorer as well as he powered Bayern to the treble.

Erling Braut Haaland – Haaland made the switch to Borussia Dortmund during the winter transfer window earlier this year after a brilliant time at RB Salzburg. Despite spending just a few months in Germany, the Norwegian has already scored 18 goals and 2 assists which is very impressive considering his young age of just 20. He has linked up well with the likes of Jadon Sancho, Giovani Reyna and Raphael Guerreiro.

Serge Gnabry – The German international will look to bounce back from their embarrassing defeat on the weekend with a win against their rivals in a final, no less. With 23 goals and 14 assists last season, there will be greater expectations from him this season. The 25-year-old has already scored three goals this season, which came in their 8-0 against Schalke.

X-factors (differential picks)

Thomas Muller – Thomas Muller’s season underwent a renaissance since the appointment of Hansi Flick. He went on to score 14 goals and provide a massive 26 assists last season and already kicked off this season with a goal and 2 assists. He will look to create space in the Dortmund final-third for Lewandowski and Gnabry to score some goals.

Kingsley Coman – The Champions League match-winner, Kingsley Coman will replace an injured Leroy Sane on the left flank. The Frenchman has won a massive 16 trophies already at the age of just 24. He has played only 17 minutes this season but will look to compete with Leroy Sane for his spot in the lineup.

Marco Reus – Marco Reus is on course to becoming a Dortmund legend with 201 goals and 114 assists, despite injuries marring a lot of his playing time. But now he is fit and ready to start against the club that must have tried to sign him multiple times, years ago. Playing behind Jadon Sancho and Erling Braut Haaland, Reus will look to create multiple chances for them and beat Bayern to the cup.
