The defending ISL Champions Chennaiyin FC will be playing host to Mumbai City in the Indian Super League (ISL), league match tomorrow at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, on Saturday evening.

Chennaiyin FC:
Though it’s still early in the tournament and anything can happen till the end of the regular season, but Chennaiyin’s of ‘defending champions may very well be losing all its sense after their submissive show so far this season.

With no wins in the first five matches and the 10 points gap between them the top of the table, the title aspiration could very well be over for John Gregory and his men.

There are not one or two problems but every department looks a bit short on quality and confidence. The backline can’t be trusted and has already shipped a massive 10 goals int he first five games, joint worst in the league this season. The midfield has been badly affected by the injury of Dhanpal Ganesh who is out with an injury. While in the attack, Indian star Jeje Lalpekhlua hasn’t scored even a single and has missed some sitters already this season.

But wingers Thoi Singh and Isaac Vanmalsawma are showing some promises as a strike force.

Mumbai City:
Mumbai City, on the other hand, have shown the signs of improvement in the last three matches. They lost the opening game against Jamshedpur FC and had to settle for a draw in the next game to start the campaign with just one point from the first two matches.

But the Islanders have turned around the corner in the last 3 matches and have won twice in those matches. However, there are still some concerns about their backline who was badly exposed by a marauding Goan outfit who hammered them for five just a week ago.

Against Delhi, Arnold Issoko and Moudou Sougou showed that they work in tandem as the duo bagged the goals. However, both the players scuppered many chances in the match and must be more ruthless as the season heads into its business period.
