CHE vs LIV Dream11 Prediction: Chelsea welcome the Premier League champions, Liverpool, at Stamford Bridge for the second matchday of the season. Liverpool took on newly promoted, Leeds United, in a thrilling fixture that saw them win 4-3, thanks to a Mohamed Salah masterclass. After a very busy transfer window, Chelsea won their first game 3-1 against Brighton with goals coming from Jorginho, Reece James and Kurt Zouma. Given their investment in the transfer window, Chelsea have sent out a statement of their seriousness about being the best team in England, a position held by their weekend opponents – Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s red army were clear winners last season and finished the campaign a mile above every other team in the league. They now have the task of defending their title, or “attacking the title” as Klopp has said, against one of the teams that will threaten to take it. Lampard’s Premier League wins as a player are very clearly and fondly etched into the minds of the Blues faithful, who now look to make new memories, but this time, with him at the helm. These games are the ones that both teams would want to win as they will ultimately determine the title race.

Who will win today’s match?

Bwin are offering odds of 6/5 for a Liverpool win but it will not be that straightforward. Despite being a very good side, Liverpool have shown signs of weakness towards the end of last season by losing two games since they were crowned champions and failed to become centurions. They also lost the FA Charity Community Shield trophy to Arsenal and conceded three goals against a newly promoted side. Leeds were well on course to getting a hard-fought point against the champions if it weren’t for a penalty that was given away in the last few minutes. Chelsea, on the other hand, will be desperate to prove to the league that they will not be push-overs like last season and will actually try and challenge for the title. In order to challenge for the title, these are the kind of games that they need to win. In the 2018/19 season, a rampant Manchester City were challenged by Liverpool for the title. With neither team losing, the league was ultimately decided by the winner of the game between the two sides – Man City. Should Chelsea win this, there will be a huge boost in their confidence and a sense of belief that just maybe, they can pull this off. Check out our CHE vs LIV Dream11 Match Prediction here!

Captain options

Mohamed Salah – Hattrick hero, Mo Salah, has already begun his charge for the golden boot by scoring 3 goals against Leeds and will look to solidify his claim by carrying on that form against Chelsea. His previous scoring records need no further re-introduction as he has been by far one of the best goal-scorers in the Premier League since his arrival.

Timo Werner – The marquee signing for Chelsea, he did not score against Brighton but got an assist and his overall gameplay was quite impressive. The reason Roman Abramovic paid good money for players like Werner was to make the difference in games like these. Werner has stepped up in the big games during his time in the Bundesliga and Lampard will expect him to do the same against Liverpool.

Sadio Mane – Signed in 2016, he has been a huge part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans and his system. He has consistently been a high scorer for the club and with Salah’s arrival, his game has been accentuated to another level. Touted as one of the best players in the world at the moment, he will look to cause a young Reece James some nightmares during the game.

X-factors (differential picks)

Trent Alexander-Arnold – Trent Alexander-Arnold has been crucial to Liverpool and how they play. Klopp’s system utilizes fullbacks in a very attacking role which often sees Arnold whip in crosses for the likes of Mane and Salah. His attacking output is excellent, getting 15 assists last season and 16 assists in the 18/19 season.

Mason Mount – The Chelsea youngster got the opportunity to step up to the first team due to their transfer ban, and step up he did. Despite getting a fair share of criticism from fans, Mount had a decent start to life in the Premier League and now backed by Lampard’s confidence, he will look to establish himself as a mainstay in the Chelsea squad, amongst all the big names.

Virgil van Dijk – Virgil van Dijk is a major force in the heart of Klopp’s defence. Liverpool had an excellent season defensively where they conceded the least amount of goals in the league, thanks to van Dijk. Signed for a whopping £75 million, he has repaid his worth, winning a Champions League and Premier League title with Liverpool. It’s not just his defensive skills but he is also quite deadly from set-pieces, scoring headers quite often. He even had a goal against Leeds United from a corner.
