FC Goa will square-off against defending champions Bengaluru FC in their next game of the ISL 2019. These two sides met last in the last season’s final where Bengaluru FC came up trumps to lift the title.
While the Gaurs defeated Chennaiyin FC 3-0 in the last game, the defending champions played out a draw against Northeast United FC. After a scintillating performance at home in the last game, Goa FC would be looking to register a statement win. Bengaluru FC, on the other hand, will try to notch up their first win to announce their arrival this season.
Indian Super League: Match 9 Date: Monday, 28th October 2019 Venue: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa Kick-off Time: 7:30 PM IST
FC Goa missed their 3 key players in the last game against Chennaiyin FC. While Edu Bedia and Hugo Boumous missed out due to injuries, Ahmed Jahouh was out courtesy a suspension. However, the replacements didn’t disappoint and gave a sizzling performance on the night.
Head coach Sergio Lobera is still waiting on the fitness of Edu Bedia and Hugo Boumous. With the return of Ahmed, Jahouh Lobera has a happy selection dilemma in his hands. The Gaurs have one of the best offensive midfield in the league and as evident from the last game, the defense also has been upgraded this season.
Carles Cuadrat’s men will be eyeing their first win of the season as they failed to notch up one in their opening fixture. The Blues looked good throughout the match but somehow lacked the sharpness against the Highlanders.
New signings Raphael Augusto and Ashique Kuruniyan had a good debut and they definitely will look to build upon their performances from the last game. Up top, Sunil Chhetri has a new partner in Manuel Onwu’s and the combination still needs some time to gel up together. However, once operating in the optimal state, the partnership may prove to be the nightmare for the oppositions’ defense.
