LEP vs DOR Dream11: RB Leipzig takes on Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga at the Red Bull Arena. Challenging for the top spot and subsequently the grand prize, Leipzig is currently 2nd in the table, just 2 points shy of reigning champions Bayern Munich. They have not lost a league game since the last day of October and have won 5 of their last 6 games. Julian Nagelsmann’s side has been very dominant this season and has won all their home league games, except for one. Their opponents, Borussia Dortmund, have had a slightly rough start to the season, losing 5 out of their 14 league games and have only won 2 of their last 5 games in the Bundesliga. The Black and Yellow Army is currently sitting in 4th place, 8 points off the top, and just 1 point above 6th. A win could mean that they close the gap on the top spots, albeit ever so slightly. But a loss could potentially see them end the game week 11 points off the top.

LEP vs DOR Prediction, Team News, Starting XI

A) RB Leipzig Team News

Injury Report, Unavailability: Leipzig have a long injury list with Benjamin Henrichs, Christopher Nkunku, Ibrahima Konate, Justin Kluivert, Konrad Laimer and new signing, Dominik Szoboszlai all ruled out.

Doubtful: Nagelsmann does not have any doubtful players.

Expected changes: A few changes can be expected from their 1-0 win against Stuttgart. Nagelsmann should continue with the 4-man defence with Tyler Adam and Marcel Halstenberg playing in full-back roles and Dayot Upamecano playing centrally with Willy Orban. Kevin Kampl, Amadou Haidara and Marcel Sabitzer will play in a midfield 3 as an exciting new signing, Szoboszlai will have to wait owing to injuries. Dani Olmo, Yussuf Poulsen and Emil Forsberg should start upfront as usual.

Leipzig Starting XI (probable):

Peter Gulacsi (GK)
Tyler Adams
Willy Orban
Dayot Upamecano
Marcel Halstenberg
Kevin Kampl
Amadou Haidara
Marcel Sabitzer
Dani Olmo
Emil Forsberg
Yussuf Poulsen

B) Dortmund Team News

Injury Report, Unavailability: Edin Terzic will be without Jude Bellingham, Marcel Schmelzer, Marwin Hitz and Thorgan Hazard for their trip to Leipzig.

Doubtful: However, they do not have any doubtful players for the LEP vs DOR Dream11 Prediction.

Expected changes: Terzic won’t be blamed for naming the same side that beat Wolfsburg and with almost a week’s break, the players should be ready to go. Roman Burki will start in goal with a back 4 of Thomas Meunier, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels and Raphael Guerreiro. The 4-2-3-1 formation will continue with Axel Witsel and Thomas Delaney forming the double pivot, behind Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Giovani Reyna who start as attacking midfielders. Erling Haaland is non-negotiable at this point and will definitely keep his place up top.

Dortmund Starting XI (probable):

Roman Burki (GK)
Thomas Meunier
Manuel Akanji
Mats Hummels
Raphael Guerreiro
Thomas Delaney
Axel Witsel
Jadon Sancho
Marco Reus
Giovani Reyna
Erling Braut Haaland

LEP vs DOR Today Match Prediction:

SkyBet: Leipzig – 11/8; Dortmund – 19/10

Bet365: Leipzig – 11/8; Dortmund – 15/8

The significance of this game changed overnight as league leaders, Bayern Munich slumped to an unexpected 3-2 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach which means that a win for Leipzig will take them on top of the table. Julian Nagelsmann is a very shrewd manager and will know that these opportunities are rather rare and if missed, Bayern Munich will not let them capitalize on it again. Dortmund, on the other hand, is trying to steady their ship after a rocky start to the campaign and won’t be blamed for not keeping the title in their sights just yet which means they will approach the LEP vs DOR Today Match Prediction more cautiously than their counterparts.

Most Likely Result: Leipzig win

LEP vs DOR Dream11, Captain & Differential Picks

Captain Options –

Marcel Sabitzer –

Chances created – 16
Shots on target – 11
Tackle success rate – 76%

Playing in the centre of the park, Marcel Sabitzer will be crucial in this game. He will be tasked with pulling the strings and essentially orchestrating every Leipzig attack. Dortmund will look to keep his quiet in order to cut off the supply to the forwards but that is easier said than done.

Erling Braut Haaland –

Goals (starts) – 16 (12)
Goals per minute – 67 minutes
Shots on target – 28

Wunderkind, Erling Haaland, has set the world alight with his incredible goal-scoring technique. The Norwegian has terrorized defences for a while now and Leipzig will have to be very careful while dealing with him.

Dani Olmo –

Chances created – 29
Successful dribbles – 22
Shots on target – 12

Another exciting youngster, Dani Olmo has become a regular in the first team since signing from Dynamo Zagreb. Playing right behind the striker, Olmo will look to exploit the channels between the Dortmund defence and attack.

Differential Picks –

Jadon Sancho –

Chances created – 44
Successful dribbles – 46
Accurate crosses – 13

One of the most sought-after youngsters in the world, Jadon Sancho has been putting up excellent numbers despite not being at his best this season. The Englishman is also in very good form now with two goals and an assist in his last 2 games for the club.

Emil Forsberg –

Chances created – 22
Dribbles succeeded – 10
Pass accuracy – 83%

Part of the Leipzig front three, Forsberg is the key that holds the side together and can often be unpredictable. When he gets the ball in the final third, he is equally good at getting a shot off and finding a player in an attacking position.

Giovani Reyna –

Chances created – 30
Successful dribbles – 31
Pass accuracy – 86%

The 18-year-old has been excellent for Dortmund so far since his breakthrough last season and has become a first-team regular. Reyna has been part of a young core that is taking shape at Dortmund and will look to dart down the left flank, trying to make the Leipzig defence vulnerable.
