Had it not for Alisson Becker’s incredible reflexes, Liverpool would have been plying their trade in the Europa League.

The Reds had a topsy-turvy group stage, suffering 3 defeats in the first five games. Going into the matchday six, Jurgen Klopp and his squad were 3rd in the group and needed to beat Napoli by two clear goals or by a 1-0 scoreline.

The Reds achieved the latter, but only after scuppering too many chances on the night. As a result, the Naples were always in the match, and destiny presented them with a golden opportunity in the 2nd half injury time, but Milik’s goal-bound shot hit the Becker-Wall and Liverpool qualified.

While Bayern Munich had a relatively easy group and remained unbeaten through the group stage, winning it ahead of 2nd placed Ajax. But the same can’t be said about manager Niko Kovac.

Ever since the season started, the rumors have been mongering about his possible sack. The reason being Bayern’s slow start to the season.

But the pressure has alleviated in the last few months or so as the Bavarian giants have cut the deficit down from nine points to just two points.

LIV vs BAY Dream11 TEAM NEWS: Injuries and Suspensions
Liverpool vs Bayern Munich Team News:

Liverpool:
Injured –
Jurgen Klopp has some real issues at the back. Joe Gomez is definitely out of the match after he suffered another setback in his ankle injury.
Midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has returned to the training ground, which is a piece of good news. But the former Arsenal player is still a few weeks away from getting to his full fitness. He won’t be involved.
Suspended – While the biggest blow is the absence of Virgil Van Dijk at the back. The Dutchman picked up three yellow cards at the group stage and will be serving a one-game ban.
Questionable – Dejan Lovren remains a huge doubt for the match, while Xherdan Shaqiri could make it in time after missing the last league game for Liverpool with an injury.

Note: If Lovren doesn’t get fit in time, Fabinho is expected to partner Joel Matip at the back. Jurgen Klopp is most likely to go with his favored 4-3-3 formation with Wijnaldum, Keita and Milner / Henderson in the middle, and Salah, Mane, and Firmino leading the attack.
Key Players – Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah

Bayern Munich:
Injured – .Arjen Robben and Corentin Tolisso have been ruled out with their respective injuries. While Jerome Boateng and Frank Ribery haven’t been included in the matchday squad.
Suspended – Thomas Muller will be serving a ban and is suspended for both legs.
Questionable – Kingsley Coma gave Bayern a huge scare when he limped off in the 2nd half injury time. But Munchen later revealed that the injury wasn’t serious enough and he remains in contention to play against Liverpool.
Note: Niklas Sule is expected to partner Matts Hummels at the back.
Key Players – Roberto Lewandowski, Joshua Kimmich, James Rodriguez

LIV vs BAY Dream11 FANTASY TEAM:

INDIA FANTASY PREDICTION:
There is a little bit of history between both the clubs, but you have to go back in time, to the 2001 UEFA Super Cup which Liverpool won 3-2 in Monaco. Before that game, there were five previous meetings with Bayern winning just once. Also, it’s worth noting that Bayern have made three trips to Anfield, winning none and failing to score every time.
But Liverpool’s issues at the back means Robert Lewandowski and Co. are good enough to buck that trend.
However, a win for Liverpool is our call.
