Liverpool suffered their first defeat in the 2019 pre-season when they went down 2-3 against Borussia Dortmund at Notre Dame Stadium.

At one point, Dortmund were leading 1-3 and Reds fans on social media platforms were quick to compare it with Liverpool‘s 2016 Europa League quarter-final match where the German giant were leading by the same scoreline, only to lose 4-3 on the night.

There was no repeat and Jurgen Klopp will now be looking for a response from his team when they play Sevilla in their 2nd game of the USA tour.

• Liverpool are still without a host of superstars as a lot of the players were kept busy by the international assignments long after the club season ended with the Champions League in June.
• Brazilian counterparts Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino played all the games for Brazil in the Copa America and have been allowed the extended break.
• Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah and Senegalese hot-shot Sadio Mane are not with the squad as well following their exploits at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
• Naby Keita (Groin) and Xherdan Shaqiri (calf injury) are both struggling with injuries and are expected to miss the game.

• Former Real Madrid manager Julien Lopetegui is at the helm at Sevilla Football Club. He may not have the luxury of hand-picking his players in the transfer market, but Sevilla have spent quite a lot in this transfer window alone; over £100m  to be precise.
• It’s still not known what side Lopetegui will go with here, but expect him to name his £100m signings against Liverpool.
• The likes of Luuk de Jong, Lucas Ocampos, Maximilian Wober, Diego Carlos and Munas Dabbur, to name a few, will definitely amongst the players on the pitch.
