MCFC vs FCPC Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:
FC Pune City brings curtains down on their season with a Maharashtra Derby as they play Mumbai City in the Indian Super League at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, in Balewadi, Mahalunge, Pune, on Saturday evening (IST).

FC Pune City:
A tale of three managers!
After achieving a first playoff appearance in the 2017-18 campaign, the owners of Pune City had high hopes from the new season and the idea was sure to better it in the 2018-19 edition of Indian Suoer League.

But the team underperformed under manager Miguel Ángel Portugal right from the start, failing to win in the first three games. That was it, he was relieved of his duties just three games into the new season.

The manager was changed but the results didn’t as Pune won just once in their next seven games under Pradyum Reddy. It forced Pune’s hierarchy to look for another candidate, and they found their match in Phil Brown, former manager of Hull City.

Under him, the Punekars have found their feet. The players seem to be buying his philosophy and are playing with much more freedom and aggression. He won twice in his first four games but tasted his defeat in India after Pune went down 1-3 to Delhi Dynamos last time around.

Uncertain future!
Other than the last season’s fourth-placed finish, Pune have never finished in the top half of the table. Their fate is already sealed for this season as well, and can’t finish above 5th placed Jamshedpur.

According to reports, the club is in deep financial crisis with losses rocketing up to RS 150 crore since it came to existence in 2014. The club was looking for strategic investors but failed in their pursuit. There are even rumours that the club may no longer play in the ISL due to the high costs.

Mumbai City FC:
Mumbai – the most improved team!
But there are no such issues with the city rivals Mumbai City who can certainly take the tag of the most improved team in the ISL this season.

The season started on a very bad note as Mumbai lost 0-2 at home against Jamshedpur FC. They may have opened their winning account with a 2-0 home win over Pune City in the third match, but the real catalyst was the 5-0 hammering at the hands of FC Goa which propelled the team into action.

After the defeat to the Gaurs, Jorge Costa’s team went on a nine-game unbeaten streak, winning seven times, and keeping a magnificent 6 clean sheets in the process.

But as it is the case with Mumbai that they lose both form and momentum towards the end of the campaign, it’s happening again. In the last four games, Mumbai have lost three times. With the playoff position already sealed, this could be the case of complacency. But Mumbai must get back to winning ways.
