MCI vs ATN Dream11 Match Preview, Team News, Lineups

Manchester City host Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League Group C match at Etihad Stadium.

The reigning English champions are currently leading the table ahead of Dinamo Zagreb and Shakhtar Donetsk having won the previous two games by an aggregate scoreline of five goals to nil.

Atalanta meanwhile are propping up the table after failing to win their opening two games. If the task fo qualifying for the knockout round was hard, it has become even harder for the Italian outfit. That said, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have to improve their performance significantly if they are to qualify for the Europa League from this group.

City though are already in the comfort zone in the group. They should have no problem whatsoever in seeing out the competition in this grup and should qualify to last-16 as group winners.

It’s been nine seasons now that Pep Guardiola won the Champions League with Barcelona. With the kind of money he spent at the Etihad Stadium, and the talented squad he had at his disposal in Bayern Munich, the Spaniard has a point to prove to everybody, at least in Europe.

Manchester City Team News:

No fresh injury concerns for Manchester City ahead of this game, with centre-back Aymeric Laporte and winger Leroy Sane remaining the long-term injury absentees at the moment.

Fitness boost:

Kyle Walker and Nicolas Otamendi missed Man City’s 0-2 away win at Crystal Palace on Saturday, but the duo reported for training on Sunday and should be fine for the home clash against Atalanta.

Changes are likely at the back:

John Stones was finally back in Man City’s squad at the weekend and featured from the bench against Palace. He is in-line to start the match, which should see Rodri move back into the midfield, and even Fernandinho as well provided Otamendi doesn’t start.

If Walker is not match-fit, João Cancelo should get the nod at right-back, with Benjamin Mendy on the other side of the defence.

Sergio Aguero was not involved against Crystal Palace at the weekend but is favourite to start against Atalanta ahead of Gabriel Jesus. Riyad Mahrez also pushes for a start.

Manchester City Probable XI:

Ederson (GK), Ederson, Cancelo, Stones, Otamendi, Mendy, De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan, Mahrez, Aguero, Sterling

Atalanta FC Team News:

Atalanta are hit with a huge blow after centre-back Simon Kjaer suffered an injury in the training. He has been ruled out from this game.
While Columbia striker Duvan Zapata remains on the sideline and won’t feature here.

Atalanta – Possible ins or outs of this game:

Kjaer’s injury should have no bearings on Gian Piero Gasperini’s tactics for this match as he would have started Masiello, Palomino and Toloi in his three-man backline.

Josip Iličić and Marten de Roon are both in contention to start the game, but Mario Pašalić and Remo Freuler are expected to get the nod in this match.

Atalanta Probable XI:

Gollini (GK), Toloi, Djimsiti, Masiello, Hateboer, Freuler, Pasalic, Gosens, Malinovskyi, Gomez, Muriel

Likely to score:

  • For Manchester City: Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez
  • For Atalanta: Luis Muriel, Alejandro Gomez

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Sergio Aguero: Has 8 goals in 8 Premier League games; 2 assists as well.
Raheem Sterling: He is in red hot form all season (6 goals in the league).
Riyad Mahrez: Not starting as many games as he would have liked, but he has impressed in whatever opportunity he got this season (3 goals and 5 assists).
Bernardo Silva: Never fails to impress (5 goals and 4 assists).
Kevin de Bruyne: The king of assists. He has goals in him as well (2 goals and 8 assists).
Luis Muriel: Has been in good form all season (5 goals in Serie A).
