MUN vs BAR Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:

Manchester United renew rivalry with Barcelona as two of the biggest football clubs in the world meet in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal match at Old Trafford, in Manchester, England, on, on Wednesday night (IST).

Even though Manchester United made a solid start under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho in early December, Red Devils were the clear underdogs when they drew PSG in the Champions League last-16 round.

That notion was proved right by PSG’s near impeccable performance in Manchester, as the visitors ran out 0-2 winners despite being depleted in the absence of both Neymar and Edinson Cavani. To make matter worse, Paul Pogba was suspended for the 2nd leg.

But Ole’s men launched an improbable comeback, winning the 2nd leg 1-3, and qualifying for the quarters by the virtue of scoring more away goals. That was it. Mountains were climbed. Ole is now a full-time United manager.

The Red Devils have made some serious progress in the last couple of months. The players are playing with more freedom and in their prefered positions. The biggest transformation is with Paul Pogba, who now looks like a player on which United shelled out a then world record fee.

But as Barcelona visit Old Trafford for the first leg, United seem to be out of touch. Since winning 1-3 in Paris, United have lost three times in four games, with two of those defeats coming against Wolverhampton Wanderers, including a 1-2 knockout blow in the FA Cup quarterfinal match.

If United are to reach the semifinal, they will have to show the same tenacity with which they played in Paris.

While Barcelona are coming into this match on the back of a 16-game unbeaten run. It looks even more impressive considering the Catalan giants faced Real Madrid thrice, and Atletico Madrid once during that streak.

No wonder, Barca are being labelled as one of the favourites for the Champions League glory this season.

That said, the reigning La Liga Champions have had luck going their way in the last month or so. The 0-0 draw against Lyon could have easily ended in a defeat for Ernesto Valverde and his men, while Real Madrid did enough in the Copa del Rey 2nd leg semifinal match to win the game. But these are the things every great team needs in a season which is long and arduous.

Barca didn’t need any divine intervention for the 2nd leg last-16 match against Lyon as they ran out a comfortable 5-1 winner at Camp Nou.
