MUN vs CRY Dream11 Prediction: Manchester United kick-off their Premier League season as they welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have been given a delayed start to the season after their unsuccessful exploits in the Europa League. The Red Devils overachieved with a third-place finish in the Premier League last season but their joy was short-lived as their Europa League campaign came to a disappointing end in the semi-finals with a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla. To build on last season’s campaign, they haven’t had the best transfer window, making just one signing in Donny van de Beek. Palace, on the other hand, have played their first game of the season in a 1-0 win against Southampton and have already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup after losing to Bournemouth on penalties. They have made a few smart signings and managed to keep hold of Wilfried Zaha for now and will look to challenge a depleted Manchester United squad to get their second win of the season. Roy Hodgson has a lot of experience dealing with United and would love to get a huge result for the Eagles which could go a long way in the season whereas if United want to secure the Champions League spots again, these are the games they should not be losing.

Who will win today’s match?

Odds are heavily towards Man United with Bwin offering 33/100 for them to win whereas a Palace win is only at 17/2. Manchester United are definitely the stronger team and they should win their first game easily. However, there is some unrest amongst the United faithful as they believe that they haven’t invested enough in squad reinforcements. It is also believed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is getting frustrated with the slow nature of transfer dealings. That aside, Manchester United will likely set up in a 4-4-2 diamond with Nemanja Matic sitting on the base with van de Beek and Pogba ahead. Bruno Fernandes will occupy the attacking midfield role. There is also a high probability that Solskjaer sticks to the winning formula which would mean van de Beek only starts on the bench. Roy Hodgson will look to set Palace up in a low block as United had issues breaking deep-lying defences last season. Tyrick Mitchell has been great for them and the Eagles will want to exploit him on the left-flank alongside Wilfried Zaha. Andros Townsend will test the shaky David de Gea with some long-range shots as well. Check out our MUN vs CRY Dream11 Match Prediction here.

MUN vs CRY Dream11 Teams

Captain options

Anthony Martial – Manchester United’s top scorer, Anthony Martial, broke all his personal records last season, scoring 23 goals and provided 12 assists despite getting injured for a while. He can better those numbers this season if he plays ahead of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba consistently. His partnership with Marcus Rashford was also a very interesting link-up in post lockdown Manchester United.

Wilfried Zaha – The former Manchester United player has always given the Red Devils trouble. His pace and dribbling have been a thorn for many Premier League sides and one that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be wary of. With the arrival of Michy Batshuayi, he now has two options in the final third to play off of.

Bruno Fernandes – The man that all Manchester United fans can look to as a messiah of sorts, Bruno Fernandes, arrived at Old Trafford in January and completely turned their fortunes around. United were reeling in 7th place with the Champions League spots well out of reach but went on an unbeaten run in the league and they ultimately finished in 3rd place. In the process, he scored 12 goals and provided 8 assists in just half a season.

X-factors (differential picks)

Marcus Rashford – Marcus Rashford scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists as he carried a poor United side through the leagues before Bruno Fernandes was signed and Martial and Pogba returned from injuries. Rashford suffered a back injury himself that made his performances a little lacklustre towards the end of last season but still managed a goal against Palace. He will be raring to go again next season.

Michy Batshuayi – After being sold by Chelsea, Michy Batshuayi has a point to prove next season. He scored against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup last season even though it ended in defeat for Chelsea. Hodgson will turn to Batshuayi in a bid to recreate his form from a few years ago and hopefully score against United like he did last time.

Donny van de Beek – New signing, Donny van de Beek, is likely to make his debut for the Red Devils against Palace. Despite being a midfielder, doesn’t shy away from making runs forward and disrupting the opposition’s defence. His main job will be to create space for the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford but is known for scoring goals himself. He has 66 career goals and 55 assists at the age of 23 whilst playing midfield.
