Santiago Solari and Real Madrid: Looking Up
Zinedine Zidane left in the summer, leaving a long-lasting legacy at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid quickly turned to the then Spain manager Julen Lopetegui, whose contract was terminated by Spain FA for illegal tapping up. It all happened too briskly, but the supposed dream marriage didn’t materialize and the divorce soon followed.

Santiago Solari is now at the helm, and after some initial hiccups, you can see that the decision to appoint him as the manager is starting to reap the rewards.

One of the biggest reason is Madrid’s form in La Liga. Almost from the very start, Barcelona were running away with the league title, boasting a lead in the double digits. But look at the table now, it’s just six points as things stand. It’s not unbridgeable, Madrid have done it before, from the more unbridled looking situation. Barcelona are dropping points and with the 2nd instalment of the El Clasico at the Bernabeu, Madrid have all the reason to feel realistic and keep looking up.

Girona are plummeting into the danger:
Five wins and four draws, including the 2-2 draw at Camp Nou, from the first 13 games, Girona made a decent start to the 2018-19 season. At this rate, they were on course to better the 51 points tally of the last season.

But Pablo Machin’s decision to leave Girona in the summer for more adventurous and powerful team Sevilla left a gaping hole within the club’s setup.

Everything is unravelling now, the club is without a league win since November the 25th, leaving the team just 1 point adrift of the relegation zone. The reality is that after the end of this weekend, Eusebio’s team could be in the bottom 3.
