TWE vs AJA Dream11:c Reigning champions and current league leaders Ajax make the trip to Enschede as they play FC Twente in Eredivisie this weekend, hoping to extend winning streak to nine games in the league.
Title almost wrapped up!
There’s no stopping Ajax at the moment. They are becoming too predictable with their results in the domestic league, winning games after games, without wasting a drop of sweat, and that’s not a good sign for all other teams, especially the challengers.
The biggest challenge was supposed to come from PSV Eindhoven, but they are already 11 points behind, and it would be foolish to consider them a genuine threat for the rest of the season. The nearest rivals are AZ Alkmaar, who are six points behind coming into this game. But can they really usurp the champions, considering how Erik ten Haag’s men have played so far?
FC Twente, meanwhile, are back amongst the big boys after spending a year in tier-2, due to their relegation in 2017-18 season. If it’s a sign of improvement, then it must be gauged only after considering the fact that they were the champions of the Netherlands in 2010, and finished runners-up the following season. So them getting relegated, and still stifling in the relegation quagmire, shows that it has been some fall from grace for Twente, and it could be a while before they challenge for the top spots.
