UNN vs MAZ Dream11 Match Prediction Union Berlin vs Mainz Bundesliga 2 October

UNN vs MAZ Dream11 Prediction: Union Berlin welcome Mainz to the German capital for the third matchday of the Bundesliga as both teams seek their first win of the league campaign. Union Berlin is coming off a 1-1 draw away to Borussia Monchengladbach which the visitors would have been happy with, as playing Marco Rose’s side is no easy task. Prior to that, they did suffer a poor 3-1 loss to Augsburg at home, when two quickfire goals in the last 10 minutes of the game took a point away from them and handed none in return. While Union Berlin can at least strive to turn their season around from now, Mainz is in deeper trouble and seem to be in a distraught state at the moment. They have lost both their games so far, one of them being a 4-1 hammering to newly-promoted Stuttgart. Mainz is having trouble off the pitch as players boycotted training due to the treatment of Adam Szalai by the club, which ultimately resulted in the sacking of coach, Achim Beierlorzer. Jan-Moritz Lichte has taken over and would love to put the club’s troubles behind them with a win over Union Berlin and hopefully turn a corner with the club.

Who will win today’s match?

Most bookmakers are offering great odds for a Union Berlin win and it is likely that Urs Fischer’s men will win. After grabbing a point away to Gladbach, they will now be raring to get their first win of the season to better last season’s 11th placed finish in their first season back in the Bundesliga. After the Gladbach game, they would have hoped for a relatively easier fixture at home to get a win, and they have gotten just that with Mainz coming to town. Mainz finished 2 places below Berlin but have had some troubles off the pitch which will take a toll on the side’s mentality. Berlin will be watchful and exploit this situation to take advantage of the circumstances. On the other hand, the Mainz faithful will be hopeful of a turn in form, owing to the new manager syndrome, wherein every new manager starts off well during the honeymoon period until the going gets tough. Berlin will have to keep the likes of Robin Quaison and Jean-Paul Boetius in check and if they do that, it should be smooth sailing for the home team. Captain options

Robin Quaison – Robin Quaison has been excellent for club and country over the last few years, and scored 13 goals, providing 2 assists for the Nullfunfer last season. This season, despite a poor start, he has still managed to get a goal and assist this season. Lichter will turn to a big performance from him if Mainz wants to squeeze out a win against Berlin.

Marius Bulter – The 27-year-old joined Union Berlin on a permanent deal this season after a loan spell with them from Magdeburg last season. He impressed the Berliners, scoring 7 goals and providing 1 assist from left-wing last season and he already has a goal this season against Augsburg on the opening matchday. He will look to take advantage of the leaky Mainz defence and get some goals on the board.

Christopher Trimmel – Playing at right-wing-back, Christopher Trimmel, he has been a mainstay at Berlin for about 6 years now. He has been an important player for them all along with 32 assists for Union, with 8 coming in last season. He is yet to get off the mark this season but will look to make Mainz his first victim.

X-factors (differential picks)

Taiwo Awoniyi – After a series of loan spells, 7 to be exact, before the age of 23 must be unsettling for Taiwo Awoniyi. The former Mainz man will look to make a name for himself at Berlin, and kicking it off against his former club will be the perfect way to start. The Nigerian has been underwhelming in the goals department but being a youngster, he will look to change that this season.

Nico Schlotterbeck – Schlotterbeck arrived at Berlin on loan this season and impressed straight away, scoring a goal in just his second game that helped Berlin get a point away at Monchengladbach. Arriving from Freiburg, the 20-year-old will look to carry on this performance and attract eyes on him as the season progresses.

Jean-Paul Boetius – Having signed for Mainz in 2018, he has done well but the Mainz faithful will expect more from him. Having scored 4 goals and 5 assists last season and 4 goals and 7 assists in the season before that from central midfield, he will look to link-up with the likes of Robin Quaison and get Mainz’s season rolling.
