The Cascadia rivalry will be one of the many high-profile games set to be played this weekend in the Major League Soccer.

Portland Timbers will be playing host to Vancouver Whitecaps and are looking to move into the Western Conference playoffs.

Timbers saw their six-game unbeaten run in the league snapped last weekend when they went down 1-0 away to Minnesota United.

However, manager Giovanni Savarese must be happy with the way his team has played in the last month or so.

While the visitors are second from bottom on the table, better than Colorado by only two points, but having played two games more than them. As things stand, nine points separate them from the playoffs, and a defeat here will make their chances of postseason even slimmer.
