VAN vs TRT Dream11 Match Preview, Team News, Lineups

An out of form Toronto FC will travel to Ontario to take on Vancouver Whitecaps in the regular season of Major League Soccer (MLS) match at BC Place.

Form and season highlights:

  • Vancouver FC will carry some momentum into this game after picking up at least a point in five of their last six matches.
  • Toronto meanwhile are short of confidence having gone winless in the last five games.
  • All the four wins for Vancouver this season have come in the last nine matches.

  • Toronto have lost four times in the last five matches which is the reason for their slip up on the table. Right now, they are outside the playoffs position in the Eastern Conference.
  • Vancouver meanwhile are climbing up and could even sneak into the top-seven with a win over Toronto in this match.

  • One positive for Toronto amidst all the negativity is that Chicago Fire are only one place and a point above them on the table having played two games more. So a win will take the visitors back into the playoffs.

Match Details:

The MLS match will be played between Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC at BC Place, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The ground has a capacity of 54,500.
The game will start at 07:30 AM (IST), on Saturday, June 1.

Vancouver Whitecaps Team News:

  • Vancouver have a lengthy injury list at the moment. As many as seven players have been listed as out while two are on the “Questionable” list.

  • Former West Ham United defender Doneil Henry is still out with a left hamstring strain. The 26-year-old has been in great form of late for his club and got his reward as he has been called up for the Canadian Soccer team, due to play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The tournament will start from June 15, and we expect him to be fit to start by that time.
  • The first ever Tunisian to play in the MLS, Jasser Khmiri is out with an ankle injury.
  • Forward Joaquín Ardaiz pulled his hamstring during the entertaining 2-2 draw against New York Red Bulls and missed Vancouver’s 2-1 win over FC Dallas last weekend. Lass Bangoura is also suffering from a hamstring problem and will miss the match.

  • Moving to the midfield, David Norman (right foot injury) and Michael Baldisimo (left ankle injury) are both out of the game due to their respective injury.
  • In a further blow to the hosts, Ali Adnan, who was deployed in an advanced role in the last game while opening the scoring for his team, had to be taken after the half time after suffering a right adductor strain. He will be assessed before the match.
  • Forward Yordy Reyna is a doubt as well with a left hamstring strain.

Possible ins or outs of this game for Whitecaps:

Maxime Crepeau will start between the posts for the hosts. Image Credit @Twitter
  • Maxime Crepeau took the gloves back from Zac MacMath in the last game and should start the match. In any case, Crepeau is the first choice for Whitecaps and the change in the personnel was mostly down to the rest to the Canadian international.
  • The three-man backline is fetching good results for the Whitecaps and we expect the manager Marc Dos Santos to stick with this formation here as well.
  • Erik Godoy, Andy Rose, and Derek Cornelius will be starting the match at the back with Jake Nerwinski and Victor Pagliari Giro (nicknamed PC), who is expected to replace Ali Adnan, should play on the flanks.
  • The injuries have handcuffed the manager to an extent. The midfield and the forward line should be in line with the last game.

Vancouver Whitecaps Probable XI: Crepeau (GK), Cornelius, Rose, Godoy, Nerwinski, Hwang, Jon Erice, Russell Teibert, Victor Pagliari Giro, Lucas Venuto, Fredy Montero

Toronto FC Team News:

  • Right-back Auro has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. He is the only player listed as out by Toronto at the moment.
  • Though, American midfielder Michael Bradley (hamstring strain) and Jonathan Osorio (hip injury) remain doubtful and could miss the game.

Possible ins or outs of this game:

  • Alejandro Pozuelo is back from suspension and may come back to the starting line-up. If he starts, Nick DeLeon or Liam Fraser could be the men making room for him in the playing 11. But that will also see a change in the formation. In that case, Marco Delgado may be pushed back a little.
  • Jay Chapman and Jordan Hamilton both featured from the bench in the last game, and are pushing for a start. The duo has five goals between them this season.

Toronto’s Probable XI: Westberg (GK), Morgan, Mavinga, Moor, Chapman, Osorio, Morrow, Deleon, Delgado, Laryea, Altidore

Potential Game Changers: Top fantasy picks ahead of the match.

Maxime Crepeau (One of the best shot-stopper in the MLS. It will be hard for Toronto to get past him)
Fredy Montero
(Currently leads the charge for Whitecaps with 4 goals)
Richie Laryea (
He scored the goal in the last game and he should be high on confidence).
Whitecaps‘ midfield is better with the likes of Teibert, Erice and Hwang all in good form at the moment.

Stats and facts:

Vancouver Whitecaps have two wins and as many defeats in the last four games against Toronto FC.

Fredy Montero – Toronto have shipped a huge 22 goals in the 13 games so far this season. Just 3 clean sheets this season is a testament of their problems at the back. While Whitecaps’ Fredy Montero is in a decent form to test Toronto’s floundering backline here in this match.
