Poland vs Colombia

Colombia claims victory against Poland in style, keeping their world cup dream still alive. This was a do or die match for both the teams as a result for failing to prevent defeat in their first game. Colombia had it tough against Japan as one of their players was booked and sent off very early in the game and Japan converted the penalty to take lead in the game. The mighty colombians tried and even got on par with Japan but then another goal changed everything for them. They came to this match looking for a win and most importantly to repeat the heroics of their last world cup as they reached the quarter finals.

The game started at Kazan Arena and all eyes were on the stars James Rodriguez and Robert Lewandowski. Both these stars have the ability to turn the game around anytime they want. From the start it was a messy game as the players from both teams were a bit clumsy on the ground, resulting in many players needing attention of the ground staff. The game was about to get settled when Yerry Mina of Colombia struck the first goal, giving his team the adavantage of walking into the dressing room with some relief.

The second half started and Poland made their first substituition hoping to settle things down but it was only for half an hour when Colombia struck again and this time it is by Radamel Falcao from a Quintero assist. Poland could see their world cup dream falling apart with the two goals they conceded so all looked up to Robert Lewandowski but today’s was not his day either. He failed to capitalise on the opportunites that were given to him and knew that the inevitable would be arriving soon. Adding to their curse was the thrid goal of the game that came in the 74th by Juan Cuadrado. The last goal was the final nail of Poland’s world cup dream and the match ended, Colombia 3-0 Poland.
