Recently, India retained the 97th spot in the FIFA rankings after settling for a draw against fancied rivals China. And now The Blue Tigers will be ready to lock horns against Jordan for the first time in a friendly on November 17 in Amman.
It will be the first encounter of both the nations at this level against each other.
“All India Football Federation confirms an international friendly for the Indian senior national team against Jordan. The match will be played in Amman on November 17, 2018,” said the AIFF official in a press conference.
Jordan were recently knocked down by the FIFA World Cup’s runner-up Croatia by 1-2. And they are at the 110th position in the freshly released FIFA rankings.
Senior teams of both nations will play for the first time against each other. But the Indian national Under-16 team played Jordan’s Under-16 team twice earlier in the year.
The Indian colts won both the encounters under the coach-ship of Bibiano Fernandes.
It will be an excellent move for the Indian senior team as they will get prepared for AFC Asia Cup next year which will commence from January 5.
Coach Stephen Constantine is assured of the competition, and he thinks it will be a big test of the team before the Asia Cup.
“This is going to be a perfect game for several reasons. Firstly, Jordan is a quality team as we saw them in their 1-2 loss to Croatia the other day. We have to understand the level we are going to face in UAE and to be able to deal with it. We have to face tests like this. The game against China was a big test, and Jordan will be another one as well,” Said the Indian football team coach Stephen Constantine.
India and Jordon’s friendly will take place at the King Abdullah II International Stadium, Amman, Jordan.
