ISL to say ‘NO’ to the glitzy opening ceremony!

From where the idea came from?

Due to their focus on serious football, ISL scrapped the idea of having an opening ceremony to attract some eye-ball to the tournament.

The committee has decided to take this action as heavy Bollywood traffic turns off the serious football stuff and the major reason is that the ceremony has no relation with the football as the celebrities don’t bother much on promoting the sports whole year. Committee also decided rather than giving massive fees to the stars for single performances, they would love to spend it on the players, team and other developmental programs or facilities.

Bollywood Stars= Distraction!

It’s the fifth year of the tournament, and they have decided to scrap one of their basic ideas which were initiated by IPL in India. Previously, from Priyanka Chopra to Salman Khan, from Katrina Kaif to Alia Bhatt, several stars were called to make the event glitzy. This helps in attracting people to come and watch the tournament while now AIFF is more focused on the severe football stuff which can help to promote the game.

Additional rules to follow

The committee has decided to go with the 5-month-tournament plan as they did in the previous edition which was on test. It turned out to be positive, so the committee members have decided to stay up with the long format. AIFF has announced a 3-month schedule of the tournament so far which can be called as Pre AFC and later the remaining two-month format will be released soon which can be called as post AFC.

Twitter reaction:

With ten teams, ISL will look up to more serious and jam-packed football schedule which could attract the football fans rather than non-sports and Bollywood fans.

It is proven that having these kinds of non-sporting activities can only give short-term gain which a five-month tournament can’t bear. Let’s hope for a great competition ahead and pledge to promote it as well.
