Real Madrid have confirmed that Toni Kroos has been diagnosed with a grade 2 tear of the adductor muscle in his left leg after being assessed by the Real Madrid Medical Services. The German midfielder sustained a tear of the adductor muscle in his left leg on Sunday’s La Liga fixture against Real Sociedad. Real Madrid play the Copa del Rey match against Leganés today at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Toni Kroos joins Marcos Llorente, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz on the sidelines. Gareth Bale, who suffered a calf problem in the last game, is a doubtful starter for the Copa del Rey Round of 16, Leg 1 clash.
“The numbers are what they are and we have to work to improve them. Scoring a goal is the most difficult part of football and we’ll work to improve that. Cristo is a Castilla player and we try to get players to make the step from Castilla to professional football. A lot of players have made their debuts this year,” said Solari.
Real Madrid dropped to fifth place in the La Liga standings following a 2-0 defeat to Real Sociedad. However, Copa del Rey presents them with an opportunity to set things right and get some momentum going but they are up against the side that knocked them out of Copa del Rey last season.
