After featuring in two Champions League finals in three years, Atletico Madrid have made themselves a European heavyweight under their Argentine manager Diego Simeone.

But this season has been nothing short of a disaster for the Los Rojiblancos. Though they were drawn in the group of death with English Champions Chelsea and Italian giant AS Roma in it, they were expected to at least finish the group 2nd and qualify for the knockout stage.
