The 38-year old, slammed an unbeaten 104 off 63 balls to make way for KXIP’s third win of the season and register his sixth IPL century. The bowlers restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 178 for 4 in 20 overs to hand them the first loss of the season.
“I am always determined to perform well for any franchise I represent in the world,” said Gayle.
“A lot of people were saying that Chris has a point to prove, and Virender Sehwag saved the IPL by picking me and I just want to put some respect on my name,” Gayle said after receiving his man of the match award.
Gayle wasn’t given an opportunity to play in Punjab’s first two matches but he has managed to make an instant impact after being drafted into the playing XI in the encounter against Chennai Super Kings in Mohali.
