Pune – Chennai Super Kings handed a crushing defeat to Delhi Daredevils on Monday, producing an all-around performance.

Put in to bat first, CSK came out with a new opening pair – Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis. The duo put 102-run partnership for the first wicket in 10.5 overs to lay the foundation of a big score. Watson led the charge with the bat – scoring 78 off 40 – with the help of seven big sixes.

Rayudu, the holder of the orange cap, came in at 4 and carried on from where he had left in the previous innings. Dhoni and Rayudu blasted DD bowling towards the end to get to the towering total – 211/4. Dhoni made 22-ball 51 while the latter chipped in with 41 off 24.

In reply, Delhi Daredevils struggled since the outset. Prithvi Shaw was the first to go in the second over. Except for the Pant-Shankar stretch, there was never any substantial partnership in the innings to contribute to the cause.

Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar played valiant hands for the visitors. For the home side, debutant Asif picked 2 wickets.
