Delhi – Delhi Daredevils could not give their fans a winning result in their first game at home, falling short by 4 runs in a nervy finish. Kings XI Punjab defended a below-par target to strengthen their position at the top of the IPL 2018 table.

Put in to bat, Kings XI did not get going in the absence of Chris Gayle. Avesh Khan and Liam Plunkett, both playing the first game for the Daredevils, never let KXIP batsmen break free. In the end, KXIP got to 143/8 in their 20 overs, with contributions from Nair, Miller and Rahul.

Chasing 144, DD started well with Prithvi Shaw scoring at more than the asking rate. His juggernaut innings was ended soon with Ankit Rajpoot cleaning him up.

At no point of time, DD innings looked in momentum and could not cross the line. Shreyas Iyer played valiantly for his 57. Ankit Rajpoot, Andrew Tye and Mujeeb picked 2 wickets each for KXIP.
