IPL 2018: Sandeep Lamichhane to wear Jersey No.1 for Delhi Daredevils

Nepal cricket sensation, Sandeep Lamichhane has been handed over the jersey no.1 by the Delhi Daredevils. He would be wearing Jersey No.1 in the upcoming eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Lamichhane became the first Nepali cricketer to enter the IPL, where Delhi Daredevils picked him in the auction for 20 Lakhs in January.

Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua uploaded the picture on Twitter where he congratulated the leg-spinner to be handed over the IPL jersey.

After his IPL selection, Sandeep Lamichhane was also congratulated by Nepali Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba who congratulated him saying “Not just me, but the entire nation is proud of you.”

“If I get a chance to play in the IPL, I would get to learn a lot as there are many experienced players help me,” Lamichanne told AFP.

The leggie caught the attention of former Australian cricketer, Michael Clarke when he played alongside the former skipper in a Hong Kong Twenty20 Blitz tournament in 2016.

Clarke invited Lamichhane to join his cricket academy in Sydney.

“Playing with a player like Michael Clarke is an honour. It felt great to share a dressing room with him and get experience from him, it was a dream come true for me,” he said.
