Kolkata – Kings XI Punjab continued from where they had left in the last game to pip Kolkata Knight Riders at their fortress, with Chris Gayle and KL leading the charge. In a rain-interrupted chase, KXIP got off to a great start with both the openers making KKR bowlers look hapless. When the rain came down, the duo had slammed 96 in 8.2 overs.

Earlier, the touring captain won the toss and asked the home side to set them a total. They did get the best of starts, losing Narine early. Robin Uthappa joined Chris Lynn at the crease coming in at 3, and added 72 runs for the second wicket.

Lynn scored 74, while Captain Karthik chipped in with valuable 43 lower down the order to put a challenging total on the board. For KXIP, Tye and Sran picked two wickets each.
