Indore – Kolkata Knight Riders handed a crushing defeat to Kings XI Punjab on first of the Saturday doubleheader, securing a dominant victory by 31 runs.

Put in to bat, KKR came out all guns blazing with Narine punishing each bowler of the home side. His onslaught – 75 runs off 36 balls – paved the way for a formidable total. Dinesh Karthik played a captain’s knock towards the end of the innings to help KKR post fourth-highest total of IPL. Tye was the pick of the KXIP bowlers, returning with a 4-fer.

In reply, Kings XI Punjab began strongly with KL Rahul leading the charge once again. However, the scoreboard pressure was too much for KXIP batsmen as the asking rate kept getting farther. KL Rahul smashed 66 off 29 while Ashwin scored 45 off 22 lower down. Russel picked 3 wickets for 41 for KKR.
