Unlike Chennai Super Kings, returning Rajasthan Royals couldn’t get off to a start they wanted against Sunrisers Hyderabad to mark their return to IPL. SRH’s newly appointed captain won the toss and asked Ajinkya Rahane’s RR to bat first.

The Royals lost their first wicket to the mix-up, with debutant D’Arcy Short falling short of the crease. Thereafter, the bowlers never let SRH batsmen find runs and kept applying pressure. RR batting did not look convincing, expect for Rahane-Samson partnership of 48.

For SRH, skipper Kane Williamson made some smart changes to strangulate RR batting. Siddharth Kaul and Shakib claimed 2 wickets each, while Rashid bowled brilliantly for 1/23.
