With Patna Pirates already securing a playoff berth, U Mumba finds themselves just one win away from virtually sealing their spot. Interestingly, Patna helped Mumba’s cause earlier by defeating Telugu Titans 41-37 on Wednesday.
U Mumba is coming off a narrow defeat against the UP Yoddhas, losing 27-30 in a game where their over-reliance on Ajit Chauhan was evident. Ajit has been the team’s standout performer this season, ranking fifth in the league for raid points with 158.
However, U Mumba’s defense has been inconsistent, particularly after the release of left-corner defender Sombir. Lokesh Ghosliya, a relatively inexperienced player, has taken over the position but hasn’t fully filled the gap. Among the defenders, Rinku and skipper Sunil Kumar have been the most reliable, with 41 and 40 tackle points, respectively, although neither ranks in the league’s top 20 for tackles.
Patna Pirates have showcased exceptional balance in their squad this season. They lead the league in raid points and rank fourth in team tackle points. Devank Dalal has been unstoppable, topping the league charts with a staggering 258 raid points. Supporting him is Ayan Lohchab, who has delivered 153 raid points, proving himself to be a dependable second raider.
On the defensive front, Patna has been equally formidable. Ankit ranks fourth in the league with 67 tackle points, while Deepak Singh and Shubham Shinde have consistently stepped up, with Shinde executing game-changing solo tackles. Despite these strengths, the left cover position remains a weak link, as neither Arkam Shaikh nor Gurdeep have performed consistently.
