CHN-W vs FRA-W Dream11: We are into the Quarter-Finals of the FIBA Women’s World Cup and the tournament’s intensity will pick up further. The USA team remains the favorite to win it all, by far! But there are teams that can have a sniff at the tile and if not, hey, a deep run paves way for the long-term development. In this game, two historically loaded basketball programs, China and France are going to clash.

China only lost to the USA in the Group Stage and pulverized the rest of the competition in big ways, showcasing their international prowess once again. On the other hand, France was on and off, they did win three out of the five games but losing to Serbia in the last game can put a dent to to their chances. How will they counter the loaded China outfit here?

    Advantage China?

China’s biggest offensive threat has been their consistent off-guard Meng Li, who has been given the green light to shoot from multiple areas. Yueru Li and Xu Han are twin towers but Xu comes off the bench. On the other hand, Siyu Wang has been a stellar playmaker and her shooting has been firm too. The Guard position is loaded with Liwei Yang and Tontong Wu alongside Li and Wang, which is an interesting quartet with the size of Yueru and Xu. China has shown that they are more than about their size and actually have multiple-position skills.

France, on the other hand, has had trouble finding a similar balance. They have sorely missed the sharpshooting and playmaking of Marinne Johannes while Sandrine Gruda’s absence has weakened the front line. The bulk of the burden has fallen on the shoulders of Gabby Williams, who has delivered on both ends of the floor. Marine Fouthoux and Sarah Michel have been solid defensively, but offensively, they are not as sharp as Johannes. The play of Alexia Chartereau, Iliana Rupert and Marieme Badiane has been solid in the frontline but the team misses Gruda for sure. How will the bigs tackle the size of Yueru and Xu?
