Gabby Williams shooting SEA vs LAS Dream11

SEA vs LAS Dream11: The WNBA is in its midway stage and the All-Star Starters have already been announced. Common names like Breanna Stewart, Sylvia Fowles, and A’ja Wilson figured as expected. First-timers like Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young have been first-time inclusions and there are yet to be reserves announced for the star-studded affair. And in this game, the Seattle Storm will host the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Storm has been on fire recently and they have won 11 out of their 17 games. After starting with three losses and one win, they have won 10 out of their 13 games. In their last match-up, they beat the Mystics 85:71 as Jewell Loyd collected 24 points. On the other hand, things couldn’t have been worse for the Sparks. They have lost four out of their five games, and overall, they have lost 10 and have just won 6 games. Their terrible season continued against the Sky in the worst way possible as they lost to them 59:82 in another disappointing offensive performance. Can the Storm derail the Sparks further?

WNBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Storm’s experience is impeccable

The Storm presented multiple challenges to oppositions. Their defense has been of the highest quality and they have been able to both control the perimeter and also block the middle. Coach Noel Quill has instilled strong defense and the inclusion of Gabby Williams has meant that the team allowed the second least points per game. Although they play at a slow pace and take their time to get things going, they turn it over a few times and their shot selection is usually on point.

And why would it not be? Breanna Stewart enables the team to make a dent in multiple areas. Sue Bird has been a big factor as the playmaker while her offense has recovered. Ezi Magbebor has been a huge factor on the defensive end, while also chipping in as an inside scorer and rebounder. Gabby Williams can be a big factor all-around while Jewell Loyd continues to wreak havoc. The bench of the team gets outmatched repeatedly and that is surely a concern.

Sparks continue to implode

Somehow, the Sparks have gotten worse on both ends of the floor. They are the worst three-point shooting team in the league and there is no doubt that they have no reliable long-range option other than Katie Lou-Samuelson, who needs off-the-ball action. The trouble is that apart from a stagnant brand of basketball on the offensive end, the team defense has been horrific so far.

Except for Nneka Ogwumike, there are many times when the Sparks have no idea how to operate on the offensive end. Liz Cambage has had no huge impact and that signing has not helped the team that much. Tolliver looks rusty on her comeback whereas Sykes despite her impressive output can’t carry the guard offense alone. The bench looks weak and now Jordin Canada and Lexie Brown have also disappeared. The Sparks look done here to be honest.
