SEA vs WAS Dream11: The WNBA All-Starters have been announced and there is no surprise that players like Breanna Stewart, A’ja Wilson, and Nneka Ogwumike have figured in the list. There are also first-timers such as Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young who thoroughly deserved the spots. And then we have a regular timer in Elena Delle-Donne who has made it to the All-Star game again. Her Washington Mystics will face the Seattle Storm here.

The Storm has been up-and-down but their overall win-loss column with 10 wins and six losses. In their last game, they defeated the Liberty 81:72 as Gabby Williams erupted for 23 points out of nowhere. On the other hand, despite inconsistencies, the Mystics have been way better than last season, winning 11 games and eight losses. In their last game, they lost a close 82:84 game to the Sparks despite a 22 points performance by Ariel Atkins. Can either of the team get a big winning run going?

WNBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Mystics’ defense has been terrific

The Mystics’ defense has been the main reason for their turnaround from their last season. They allow around 75 points a game and they have the second-best defensive rating. However, it must be noted that with Delle-Donne, the team has won eight out of the eleven games and without her, they have lost five games and have three wins, so her presence clearly makes a difference, especially on the offensive end.

Natasha Cloud has been a great playmaker and her hustle on both ends makes a huge difference. Ariel Atkins has been inconsistent but on her day, she can be an offensive machine. Alysha Clark has been superb in parts whereas rookie Shakira Austin has shown a lot of promise. The bench looks deep with players like Shatori-Walker Kimbrough and Elizabeth Williams stepping it up.

Storm’s experience has been huge
The Storm added Gabby Williams in the offseason and her defense has been a breath of fresh air. With a perimeter defender like Jewel Loyd, an all-around defender like Gabby, a strong help defender in Breanna Stewart and a brilliant Center defender in Ezi Magbebor and January, Lavender, and Talbot off the bench, the Storm defense is elite.

On the offensive end, after a slow start, Gabby Williams seems to be getting more comfortable, Breanna Stewart remains the main enforcer whereas Jewell Loyd has been struggling, which has hurt the team at times. Magbebor has improved but the bench scoring has been rather off. Storm needs Jewell Loyd to pick her game.
